
Hurricane Preparedness
Before a storm:

Make sure you are listening for your generator to run its weekly exercise.

Have your generator serviced annually to ensure fluids, battery, and other components are ready to run.

Always use battery operated carbon monoxide detectors.

Unplug small appliances that you will not use during the storm.

Be prepared with a storm box of extra oil, filter, spark plugs in case generator is running for extended periods of time.

Keep at least 3 ft of clearance around generator.

Check the inside of the enclosure to make sure it is free from debris.
During a storm:

Turn off generator for at least 30 minutes every 24 hrs the generator is running.

After a storm:

If your generator has ran over 100 run hours, contact Downsouth Generator's office to schedule a maintenance visit to ensure your generator is ready for the next storm.
